The Africa Dream Project continued to shine in Gambia since the implementation of the project in December 2014. An initiative of FIVB president Dr Ary S. Graca is meant for the continent with the sole aim of seeing an African country at the center stage in world volleyball championships.

The African Dream Project “under supervision of FIVB President Dr Ary Graca is a flagship 4 year program for Volleyball Development in Africa”. The Gambia launched the project officially in February 2015 with four centers set up across the country.

The Gambia Volleyball Federation hosted at the weekend a Mass Volleyball Festival between three of the four centers namely Banjul, Kanifing and Brikama, with only Farafenni missing out on the event.

The festival was contested in various categories from Under-10, Under-12 to Under-14. The program attracted more than 200 kids from the three centers. Speaking at the event The Project Director Bai Dodou Jallow stressed his Federation’s willingness to continue developing the skills of the participants at all centers.

“It is a commendable move and I must say I am impressed with the Gambia Volleyball Federation for the rapid change made in Gambian volleyball and this project is worthwhile,” Bai Dodou Jallow stated.

Jallow confirmed that training is still underway at all the centers despite not receiving the 3rd financial support from the Confederation of African Volleyball. But he was with high praises for the continental body and FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graca for the support already received.

At the end each center was giving 10 new balls and 2 new medium size nets for continuity of the project at the centers.
