Nigeria To Host Men’s U21 African Nations Volleyball Championship

Nigeria will come back to the organisation of volleyball competitions after the Africa Volleyball Confirmation “CAVB” entrusted the most populous African Nation with the rights to host the 2018 Men’s U21 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja, Nigeria.

The competition will be held from September the 12th to the 19th, 2018 for players who were born on 1st January 1999 or after.

Egypt won the 2016 Men’s U21 African nations Volleyball Championship.

The final dates to confirm participation with all documents will be August 27, 2018. This championship will also act as a qualifier for the 2019 FIVB World Volleyball Championship of this age category.

Nigeria and Kenya to Host 2018 African Junior Volleyball Championships

African Volleyball confederation’s (CAVB) SOC Working Group met in CAVB Headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the 2018 remaining African competitions and to approve the 2019 and 2020 calendars.

CAVB President who led the working group asked the attendees to drop their opinions for a better future of African Volleyball competitions.

“We ask all the attendees to brainstorm their ideas especially regarding the establishment of the new sponsored Club Championships and and also to propose to the next CAVB Board of administration the ideas of having the new challenge Club Cup between the champions of Africa and the corresponding Asian champions.” Elwani commented.

CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy presented the highly successful club championships this year for both men and women genders attracting a historic record of participating teams. Both competitions were live streamed and attracted the media across the content making un-preceded coverage.

The meeting discussed the African Youth Games qualifications in the continent’s 7 zones who booked their tickets to the finals of African Youth Games in Algeria 7 to 17 August, 2018.

The sports Organising Committee proposed to maintain the U23 African Nations Championships for both genders to maintain the young generations for a longer time ahead before making it to the senior level, however it will not be used as a qualification tournament for the the World Championship next year owing to the FIVB’s decision to organise the world championship of this age category every 4 years.

CAVB granted the hosting of the Women’s U20 African Nations Volleyball championship to Nairobi, Kenya from August 24 to September 3, 2018 and the Men’s U21 African Nations Volleyball championship to Nigeria with the dates yet to be fixed.

MOROCCO TO ORGANISE MEN’s U21 AFRICAN NATIONS VOLLEYBALL Championship

Morocco will return back to hosting African events 5 years after they organised the Men’s Senior African Nations Volleyball Championship in 2011. The African Volleyball Confederation “CAVB” has granted them the honour to organise the 2016 Men’s U21 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Tangier.

The competition will hold from September 18 to 24, 2016 with the 24th of August as a deadline for the National Federations to register for the event.

Egypt are the defending champions of this age group as they won the last edition in their homeland in February 2015.

The top 2 teams in this competition will qualify to represent Africa at the FIVB Men’s World Championship in 2017.
