African Dream Project Enters Next Level in Cape Verde

The African Dream Project went to another level in Cape Verde as the Atlantic Ocean islands passed to the second year of the programme

Cape Verde received a second donation of sports material from the Italian Volleyball Federation (Fipav), for both indoor and Beach volleyball, which will be very useful to the Cape Verdean volleyball development in the coming years.

The cooperation agreement between Cape Verde and Fipav was achieved, through the intermediary of a Cape Verdean association named Kriol-Ita, whose representative Maria Silva, was impressed upon her visit to Cape Verde, where she had the opportunity to watch the men and women playoffs for the national championship, she promptly outlined the strategic plan of cooperation between the Cape Verdean and Italian volleyball.

“In Cape Verde, the materials for the implementation of volleyball are extremely expensive and some even impossible to find in the local market,” said Cape Verdean Volleyball Federation President Carlos Rodriguez.

“The material will support our ambitious development programme to spread the sport throughout the country.”

The programme helped the country to get a lot of achievements in the last few years specially in Volleyball, where Cape Verde as already participated for the first time in All African Games in Congo-Brazzaville last summer in Men as Zone 2 champions and as vice champions in women. The local champions Atletico de S. Vincente, made their second appearance at the Africa Clubs championships. All this participations is reflected in an improvement of the quality and the movement of several athletes from Cape Verdean teams to European teams.

The school sports initiative linked to the four centers of the African Dream Dr. Ary Graça Project, has had a very important job in the creation of a new ideology and a more strategic vision linked to training as an important pillar of a very bright future for Cape Verdean volleyball.

Already in its second year of operation, the four development centers Dr Ary Graca, as seen the arrival of these materials as a considerable improvement in the quality of equipment for the children.
