Ahly Crowned 2018 Men’s African Club Volleyball Champions

Ahly of Egypt once more proved consistent and claimed the 2018 Men’s African Club Volleyball Championship title with a great victory over their compatriots El Guish 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-14) in the finals of the competition at Ahly Club in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.

This is the thirteenth trophy for Ahly after 1980, 1983, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2018 to add to their historic record of victories.

After the final match CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani accompanied by Ahly Club Vice President Elamry Farouk presented the trophy to the winners beside the medals for the top 3 teams.

Smouha claimed the bronze medal to make it an all Egyptian Podium for the first time in the history of the competition after they beat Swehly of Libya in a thrilling encounter 3-2 (25-27, 25-21, 18-25, 29-27, 15-13).

GSU concluded the championship in the best way after they downed Ahly Benighazi of Libya 3-2 (25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 24-26, 15-11) in the ranking match for 5 and 6 places.

Aviation club of Egypt ended their campaign in the 7th position following their tough victory over struggling Kenya 3-2 (25-22, 10-25, 19-25, 28-26, 15-7) for 7 and 8 places.
