Bouchra Hajij Becomes First Africa Woman To Be Elected Into FIVB Board

Morocco Volleyball Federation President Bouchra Hajij became the first ever African woman to be elected into FIVB Board of Administration. She garnered 147 votes at the Minority Gender FIVB Board elections in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Thursday.

Hajij gained the biggest no of votes ahead of former Indonesia Olympic Committee President Rita Subowo (141 votes) who joined her on the FIVB Board of Administration from 2016-2020 as Minority Gender members.

Bouchra Hajij is the President of the Morocco Volleyball Federation and a former Morocco national volleyball player and she is also a member of the IOC’s Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission. During her short stint as the head of volleyball in her country, she conducted a lot of development strategies and was a key icon in repositioning Moroccan Volleyball back to the top in Africa.

She has a Masters in Communication and Marketing (ISCAE), Bachelor’s degree in experimental sciences and a Diploma in Education from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
