Russia’s Pavel Sozykin Declared Eligible For Rio 2016 Olympic Games Sailing Event

World Sailing today received confirmation that Russian sailing athlete Pavel Sozykin has been declared eligible to compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) review panel.

Mr. Sozykin competes in the Men’s 470 Class.

Following the receipt of new eligibility guidelines provided earlier this week by the IOC, it was determined by the World Sailing Board of Directors that Mr. Sozykin should be nominated for competition. His nomination was submitted to the IOC and CAS on 3 August.

The confirmation of Mr. Sozykin’s eligibility has been communicated to the Russian Olympic Committee and Russian Yachting Federation.

Sailing competition at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games begins Monday, 8 August.
