OVOKE PRAISES NPFL… CALLS FOR IMPROVED OFFICIATING – By Akeem Busari.

Rivers United top scorer, Bernand Ovoke has praised the improved standard of play in the NPFL. The former Bayelsa United striker expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the games this season, as he attributed the new fervour to the hard work put in place by the LMC, as well as the technical and tactical inputs of the coaches in the league.

“l want to say that the standard of our league has really improved. These days we are getting unbelievable results in matches, “the 18 years old attacker enthused.

” The LMC are also trying their best and l want to advise that they don’t rest on their oars,” he admonished.

Continuing, the Delta State born youngster, however, demanded better officiating of the remaining matches in the league. Adding that it would ensure that a worthy champion emerges at the end of the season.

“We are in the crucial stages of the league, therefore, there would be tension and pressures on the players, coaches and officials. I want to commend the referees so far, however, they must continue to be fair to all the teams, “Ovoke urged.

The former U-17 player who has scored 8 goals in the league and 3 more in the federation cup, was full of praises for the management of Rivers United for the improved welfare packages for the team.
According to him, that would only spur the players to repay the management of his team who are presently placed third on the log with a game in hand, with the league title at the end of the season.

“We want to win the league this season because we are really motivated to do so, “the left footed striker who adores Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo, but conceeds that he likens his style of play to that of the mercurial Lionel Messi, stated emphatically.
