NWPL WEEK 6: RIVERS ANGELS WELCOME CONFLUENCE QUEENS

The Nigeria Women Premier League enters week 6 this weekend across eight different centers in the country.

NWPL champions, Rivers Angels will be at the Yakubu Gowon stadium to welcome Confluence Queens on Saturday.

Angels have gone four matches unbeaten and will be hoping to consolidate on their superior form since the beginning of the season.

The Port Harcourt-based side started their season campaign with a 4-1 thrashing of Martins White Doves in Benin City with Osinachi Ohale, Mercy Amanze, Amaechi Ojini and club’s leading scorer, Amarachi Ojinma all on target.

In week 2, they were hosts to Sunshine Queens at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium and emerged 2-0 winners with Ojinma and Shola Oyewusi saving the day.

They went on to maintain their top spot on the log in week 3 when they played Adamawa Queens at the Fofure stadium. River Angles ran away with a point after the game had ended goalless.

In week 4, Rivers Angels picked all 3 points when FC Robo came visiting in Port Harcourt to extend their lead on the table with Ojinma and Ojini the goalscorers on the day for the champions.

The Edwin Okon tutored side will be up against a team that has only won 1 game out of four matches this season.

Both teams last met in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Federation Cup where they beat Rivers Angels 2-1 to knock them out of the competition.

Angels top group B with 10 points from four matches while Queens are 6th with 5 points.
