Real Madrid FC overcame a dogged UNILAG Football Club by two goals to nothing in the final of the 4th edition of Akoka 5-Aside Football Competition on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Kinetic Sports Pitch of Federal College of Education Technical, Akoka.
Captain Uche Akuneto’s rebound in the first half and another individual display in the second half from Sewo Williams who later got sent off for receiving a second yellow card for excessive celebration, put the game in favor of the only side that went unbeaten at the tournament.
Prior to the final match the third place match saw former champions Our Team Football Club defeating Team Kunledinho by seven goals to three before the game was abandoned by the latter in what they termed biased officiating from the referees.
At the end of the four-day event cash prizes, awards, medals and a trophy went to deserving winners. Real Madrid FC which won the tournament went home with a cash prize of N 50,000, Gold medal and a giant trophy, Runners-Up UNILAG FC got N 25, 000 and a silver medal for their troubles while Our Team and Kunledinho which finished in third and fourth respectively received a cash prize N 15,000 and N 10,000.
Other recipient of individual awards at the 4th edition of the Akoka 5-Aside Football Competition went to Fadare Johnson, who scored eleven goals in six matches to finish as the top marksman and a cash prize of N 10,000 from Naijaprizes.com while Tobi Otubu who emerged as the most valuable player of the tournament got a jersey and ball for his football artistry.
Speaking at the event, the Father of the day/Baale of Isale Akoka, His Royal Highness Oba Sikiru Olusegun Aroyewun, applauded efforts put in place by the Akoka Community Development Association, under the leadership of Mr. Segun Adesanya in maintaining a high level of consistency in the discovery of football talents and the promotion of peace and tranquility among youths of the community. He however advised organizers to put measures in place in order to curb indiscipline among footballers and by extension sportsmen in future events.

Chairman of Akoka CDA, Mr. Segun Adesanya, thanked God for the successful hosting of the Competition. He also used the medium to express appreciation to the organizing committee led by Chairman, Akoka Youth Community Development Association, Mr. Yomi Ojute, Welfare Secretary Akoka Youth CDA, Mr. Yemi, Head of Referees and Chairman of Technical Committee Mr. Babatunde Oluwo for his experience, Mr. Kunmi Adenipebi, MD/CEO of E-Planet who sponsored the tournament as well as dignitaries who graced the occasion, the 16 participating teams, Federal College Education Technical, Akoka (Host) and their cooperative students, UNILAG 103.1FM which throughout the tournament provided full media coverage and commentaries on match days. He assured everyone that the dream of Akoka CDA to discover football talents and also promote unity and peace among youths will continue for many years to come.
