Former Real Madrid and Chelsea center back, William carvalho has joined Chinese Super League club Shangai SIPG on a free transfer. The CSL side made the announcement on Thursday. “We welcome the arrival of Carvalho and we are convinced that he has both the ability and the experience to strengthen our defence next season.”
With the announcement coming two weeks after the close of the transfer window, Shangai SIPG said the late announcement was due to registration.”We have completed the signing since we came back from the winter training in Doha, why we announced so late is because the registration was unsettled and we had to think carefully about the use of the veteran under the new policy of foreign players,” SIPG said.
Carvalho who is now 38 years old has had a very good professional career after making a name himself while at Porto where he won the UEFA champions league in 2004. He then moved to Chelsea where he won the EPL three times after which he moved to Real Madrid in 2010 where he spent three years. He left Real Madrid for French League 1 team Monaco.
The Portuguese International would link up with Oscar and Hulk at Shangai SIPG.
