NTF Sees Tennis Transformation With ITF Coaches’ Course

The Nigeria Tennis Federation has stated that the ongoing ITF Level 1 Coaching Course in Lagos will transform the game of tennis in Nigeria while it will also help solidify Nigeria’s status as one of the top nations in Africa.

NTF president, Sani Ndanusa made this submission in Lagos on Wednesday as the IOC-sanctioned programme near its conclusion.

The nine-day course which has about 40 coaches from Nigeria as well as Ghana in attendance is coordinated by ITF Coaches Instructor for English-speaking West African countries, Rotimi Akinloye.

Ndanusa said, “It is quite obvious that this course will transform Nigerian tennis because the level of enthusiasm by our coaches who have come from all parts of the country to get equipped with the latest coaching of the game is very huge.

Ndanusa, who was on hand to lend support for the programme expressed delight at the participation of parents of some of the Junior national team players as some of the country’s senior players.

“Having the parents of the Junior players taking part is a good omen for the game because it is what we also have at the International level where some of the superstars have their parents as coach. In the same vein, the senior players taking into coaching will also secure our future in the sport because having played at a high level, they can easily produce large amount of talents for Nigeria.

Ndanusa also showed up at the Georgetown Junior Tennis Championship which served off on the same day at the National Stadium, Lagos pledging NTF’s support to the organisers.
