Nigeria’s most celebrated wrestler, Odunayo Folasade Adekuoroye took her pound of flesh on highly rated Swedish’s Sofia Mattsson in the 53kg women category by defeating her by 6-1 points in the Pro Wrestling League season two in India.
The 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist, Sofia failed to counter Adekuoroye’s techniques and the Nigerian wrestler took a 4-0 lead at the end of the opening round.
Odunayo further astonished Sofia in the second round by bagging two more points, taking her down once again to win 6-1 in what turned out to be another upset of the day.
The Punjab Royals wrestler after her bout did her usual dance routine while also singing praises to God for making her excel at the league.
It is worthy to note that the India wrestling fans have tagged Adekuoroye to be the dancing queen of the mat.
The 2015 World Champion bronze medalist from Nigeria was voted player of the tie alongside Sandeep Tomar for their outstanding performances.
Adekuoroye is the only player that has not been defeated since the Pro Wrestling League began in 2015.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Tomar stunned Rio Olympics champion Vladimir Khinchegashvili to help Haryana Hammers defeat Punjab Royals 5-2 and register their fifth straight win in the Pro Wrestling League season two to top the table.
With this win, Haryana Hammers remained unbeaten in the group stage and will now clash with fourth placed Jaipur Ninjas in the first semifinal tomorrow.
Punjab, meanwhile, will face Mumbai Maharathis in the second semifinal.
