Registration for the new 2016-17 season in the Nigeria National League, The NNL, has began, the new NNL Board led by Chidi Ofo Okenwa approved with immediate effect the listing of the 32 teams that are expected to feature on Thursday,in Abuja, during a crucial meeting of all board members.

The financial requirements of (N800,000.00 for both registration and Insurance cover ) for the clubs to be enlisted for the new season, the board stated will remain the same as at 2015-2016 .

The Secretariat of the NNL to this effect has been mandated to reconcile all club accounts and forward same to the concerned clubs for immediate compliance.

The Independent Chairman, Chidi Ofo Okenwa, whose board was inaugurated on the 18th of December, 2016 at the Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the Nigeria Football Federation in Lagos, wants his new board to hit the ground running because “There is no more time, we have a lot planned in our quest to reposition the second tier and most important League in the country, we are set to ensure accomplishment and the time to start is now “ he stated.

Okenwa wants all hands to be on the plough in the process, to enable the accomplishment of repositioning the NNL and delivering on promises made.

“We have been trusted with a big assignment and we cannot afford to fail ,it is a job we cannot do alone ,so we will appreciate that every stakeholder and lover of Football join us in repackaging the League, suggestions are welcomed in this regard” Okenwa added.

The new board will in the closest distance future:
A – Set up a Committee to review the Rules and Regulations governing the NNL.
B – Call All Stakeholders Meeting to enable it draw contributions
C – Hold a Congress involving all the 32 club sides ahead of the fresh season.
D – Organize a media Parley, as part of activities to herald the new season.
