Young Stars lacked the strength to cope with the form of ruthless Super Queens at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium where they lost 5-2 on Saturday in the final match day of the preliminary round of the Halimatu Ayinde Five-Aside Football Tournament.
Josephine Mathias struck an excellent treble while Lola Philips bagged a brace for the star studded Super Queens.
Halimat Yusuf and Patience Bonat were on song for Young Stars in the seven-goal thriller.
An unfinished game was concluded with 15 minutes of action played. It ended in a 3-1 in favour of Sharp Shooters against Young Stars.
A goal by Chinwe Akabike wasn’t enough for Sharp Shooters to defeat Young Planners in a game that ended 1-1.
Classic Babes and Sharp Shooters shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Ayodele Odunuga put Classic Babes in front with a superb finish before Blessing levelled terms for Sharp Shooters.
Odunuga restored her team’s lead and bagged a brace for herself some minutes before halftime.
Headliner, Akabike tucked the ball to the back of the net for the equaliser early in the second stanza.
There was no winner as both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Meanwhile, Akabike remains the highest goal scorer so far with an impressive seven goals.
The tourney will be drawn to a close on Monday 26th December, when winners will emerge and prizes will be won.
