Larry ‘The Natural’ Ekundayo made a triumphant return to the ring on Friday as he defeated Arvydas Trizno in London, UK.
This was Larry’s long awaited return to the ring after a year layoff due to injury, and he did not disappoint in his highly anticipated return to the professional ranks. Ekundayo defeated Arvydas Trizno at boxing event tagged ‘Christmas Cracker’ at Tolworth Recreation Centre Surbiton, United Kingdom.
It didn’t take long for Larry to remind everyone of the skills that have made him such a talented prospect. Larry was able to get his shots off offensively and counter with ease when his opponent tried to mount his own attacks. When his opponent did come forward Larry’s full defensive array was on show and with an excellent use of “ringcraft” and slipping away out of arms reach, frustrating his opponent.
The Naturals fans were out in full support, with The Honourable Rita Orji, Chairman House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, flying in especially to escort the Nigerian fighter into the ring. Honourable Oji commented that “Larry is flying the flag for Nigerian sport on the international stage, we as a community and country need to get behind him, so Nigerians worldwide can be proud of his achievements.”
The recent win takes the undefeated fighter, who is African Champion, International Masters Champion and Prizefighter Winner to 12 straight victories. The win also now positions him to fight for the Commonwealth title, in early 2017. After the fight Larry said “Thank you to all the fans that came out and supported me, I am hoping to make Nigeria happy and win titles to give the whole country something to cheer about”.
