Gold Cup Tourney Announces MatchRoom As Brand Consultant

Organisers of the Gold Cup Pre-Season Tourney, Nigeria’s prestigious pre-season tournament, have announced MATCHROOM Sports as Brand Consultant, in a bid to boost the profile of the event.

A total of 10 teams will converge on Ijebu-Ode, in Ogun State, for the 10-day competition, which kicks off on Friday, November 25.

MATCHROOM, which has worked for top brands in the country brings innovative ideas into the Gold Cup.

“We’ve been working with MATCHROOM in an informal capacity, but pleased to announce a formal relationship with the Ojeikere Aikhoje led Lagos based agency”, General Coordinator of the Gold Cup, Tunde Shamsudeen, said in a statement.

“Our task is to raise the profile of the Gold Cup. It has since become the preferred brand by top clubs in the league.

“The fact that no fewer than 300 professional players from 10 clubs in the country will converge on Ijebu-Ode for the Gold Cup makes it the preferred destination not only for clubs, but also journalists and scouts”, Aikhoje revealed in a statement.

Two-time African champions as well as seven-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba and four-time Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars, lead the pack.

2017 CAF Confederation Cup campaigners, Wikki Tourists, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, newly promoted Remo Stars, 2016 Federation Cup giant-killers, Crown, MFM, Niger Tornadoes and FC Ebedei, complete the teams for the Gold Cup.

Partners include OWU Sportswear, Bet9ja and Naija LEAGUE! Magazine.
