The clamour by players of Nigerian descent in the diaspora to don the colours of the country is on the increase.
Obviously spurred by the successful outings of Arsenal youngster, Alex Iwobi, as a Super Eagles player, the father of USA based young Nigerian talents, Mr. Chukwujekwu Iloka, has reiterated his stance on the international future of his children, who presently play college football in the USA.
“We have continued to spurn overtures of the USA Football Federation, who want to cap my children, Iloka disclosed.
“I want my kids to play for their fatherland which is Nigeria. They have continued to receive attention from the football federation here and with plans to make them play for the USA.
“However, I believe that with the renewed efforts of the NFF and particularly, the appointment of a new coach for the national team, the fortunes of our country football would improve significantly,”he enthused.
It would be recalled that the Ilokas, namely, Chidiebere, Obinna and Precious, have been receiving rave reviews, with scouts drooling over their potentials.
